Police arrest watch-list criminal, recover valuables worth Rs 1.5 lakh

Shahjahanabad police have arrested a watch list criminal and recovered stolen jewelery and scooter along with goods worth about Rs 1.5 lakh. The accused is being interrogated regarding other incidents that were reported in the area. The family had gone to attend a program when the theft took place. According to the police, complainant Mukesh Yadav (45) lives in Shahjahanabad near Kumharpura Military Gate. On April 3, unknown miscreants had stolen gold and silver jewelery from his house. The family had gone to attend a function at the time of the incident. The police had registered a case against unknown accused in this matter. Similarly, a scooter parked in front of Sultania Masjid, behind the old court, in front of the house of Zeba Khan, living in Shahjahanabad, was stolen. Zeba had lodged a complaint on April 22. DCP Zone No. 3 Riyaz Iqbal had given instructions to form a special team to arrest the accused in these cases. After that, the team interrogated the watch list criminal of the area, Chhotu alias Azhar (25), resident of Gosia Masjid, near Sanjay Nagar Shahjahanabad, and he admitted to committing the crimes. Police have recovered goods worth about Rs 1.5 lakh including gold and silver jewelery and scooter from the possession of the accused. The accused was booked for over a dozen crimes in the past. The accused would be questioned regarding other crimes in the past. The aides who have helped the accused in the crimes and disposing of the stolen goods would be investigated in the further investigation.
